Tired of emailing or talking to ten different people for event and meeting logistics and publicity? Well...
UUCC is switching to a new, simplified way to request...
• OBIC space for events/meetings,
• pulpit announcements,
• Order of Service (OoS) announcements,
• articles for the LINK newsletter, and
• UUCC website calendar event listings
It's a single form we've nicknamed the "One-Stop-Shopping Announcement Form."
You can also use the form to request a room at OBIC. No special computer skill is needed.
The form is here.
Please note that all UUCC-related or sponsored events, including activities sponsored by groups within UUCC, should now be posted in the congregational calendar.
Speak to Laurie Coltri for more details, or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. For calendar/reservation issues or questions NOT covered by the form, please contact Congregational Secretary, Kelly Lundgren at email@example.com.
Please join the UUCC Communication Council in celebrating the launch of UUCC's congregational blog, Voices of UUCC. The blog will capture the unique voices and perspectives of UUCC's members, friends, and staff. It joins In Between Sundays, our ministers' blog, as a way to strengthen and extend the reach of UUCC's community, ministries and programs.
You can find Voices of UUCC at http://usm9.siteground.biz/~uucolumb/voices/. This location is temporary; we expect the blog to eventually become part of the UUCC website as part of the upcoming website overhaul.
It's linked to our current website in three places:
- On some pages, from the LEARN MORE item in the main menu
- In other pages, from the CONNECT item in the main menu, right below IN BETWEEN SUNDAYS; and
- On the Regulars home page, http://uucolumbia.net/regular, under QUICK LINKS.
Please take the time to peruse the essays posted there, and to post comments as you feel called to do. Remember that your comments will be seen by the public, so keep UU principles in mind when making them, and bear in mind that one's first comment is held for moderation before publication.
We are actively recruiting contributing authors for blog posts, so if you feel called to become a contributing author, or have an idea for a suitable essay rolling around in your mind, or if you have a question or comment, please contact our blog team at firstname.lastname@example.org. Submit your candidate blog posts and ideas for posts at http://uucolumbia.net/index.php?option=com_rsform&view=rsform&formId=103

UUCC is planning to make major revisions to its website in the upcoming months, and the Communication Council invites anyone who is interested to contribute feedback and ideas in an online brainstorm. We'd like to explore what might be the best things about the current site and the ideal improvements we could make. Whether you love our current website, have suggestions for improvements, don't use it much, or can't make the current website work for you, we'd love to hear from you.
There is not yet a clear timeline for the revisions process; we'd love to have your ideas, starting now, so that when the revisions process does begin, those involved will have the benefit of your feedback.
To participate, go to http://usm9.siteground.biz/~uucolumb/website-brainstorming-forum/ and follow the instructions. Questions and help with the technology: contact Laurie Coltri at LSColtri@verizon.net or 410-992-3961. If you have difficulty navigating websites, but want to make suggestions to make ours more user friendly, please call me and we'll talk!
UUCC is switching to a new, simplified way to request pulpit announcements, announcements in the order of service, Link newsletter articles and calendar event listings - a single form we've nicknamed the "one-stop-shopping announcement form." You can also use it to request a room at OBIC. No special computer skill is needed.
The brainchild of Maureen Harris and Haley Besner, this single-form approach promises to greatly simplify how we communicate.
The form is here. If you plan to use this form on a regular basis, bookmark this web address: http://uucolumbia.net/announcement-calendar-request (Did you know that you can automatically bookmark a webpage by clicking CTRL-D on a PC, or Command-D on a Mac?)
Please note that all UUCC-related or sponsored events, including activities sponsored by groups within UUCC, should now be posted in the congregational calendar. So, if you belong to a group within UUCC (Men's Club, Biking Club, etc.) and you're going to have an event like a meal together or a bike ride, the event should be put on the congregational calendar. (Since the calendar can be seen by members of the public, please don't include information you're uncomfortable sharing with the public, such as a residence address. Groups that sponsor events that should not be listed on a public calendar should contact Laurie Coltri.
When you post events on the calendar, please make them enticing and eye-catching; we'd like the calendar to be a primary information source for what to do at UUCC. If you're interested, by the way, in seeing what's going on at UUCC, here's a link to our calendar events listings.
It's not too late to have a voice in making UUCC's communication the best it can be.
A Town Hall meeting to brainstorm UUCC's communication was convened on March 6, 2016, and some great ideas came out of it. Around the end of March, look for a tabulation of results here in the LINK and on UUCC's Communication Council webpage.
Thank you to the energetic and thoughtful folks who attended the meeting and gave responses to these questions:
- When UUCC communicates, what do we do well?
- What needs to be improved?
- Please brainstorm how we might improve UUCC’s communication. (Consider the present day. But also imagine UUCC as an even bigger community than we are now – up to double our current size.)
If you didn't get a chance to attend the Town Hall, don't despair: you can still make your opinion heard. Just fill out the form linked here by March 25, 2016. Your reactions will be added to our tabulations. (Your name and identifying information will not be published.) Even if you attended the Town Hall, you can use the form to add new thoughts and suggestions.Let us hear you roar!
