Class Description: Windows and Mirrors (9-10* years old)
To see others, we look out a window. To see ourselves, we look into a mirror. The new UUA Tapestry of Faith curriculum, Windows and Mirrors, encourages self-reflection and the expansion of empathy. Children come to know themselves more deeply, reflecting on who they are inside; and are supported in looking upon others with openess, understanding and respect for differences. This curriculum presents Unitarian Universalism as a faith that is lived out through identifying and acting on responsibility to oneself and toward one another. Children will be introduced to the impact of multiple perspectives and multiple experiences, and encouraged to identify and respect their own values, views and needs. The course develops children's self-awareness, empathy and respect for differences, seen and unseen as central concepts of a healthy faith perspective.
* Age by September is the preferred placement for children. Please speak to the Director of Lifespan Growth and Learning for any exceptions.

When our classes begin in September, this space will provide a brief description of the week's session, suggestions for exploring the topic with your child, and for extending the topic at home through family activities during the week.
