One of the greatest fears reported by seniors in Howard County is the loss of independence that comes with the need to relinquish their car keys. Since 2004, Neighbor Ride has been there to allay those fears with its team of 340 volunteer drivers providing transportation for medical appointments, shopping, faith-based services, volunteer and fitness activities, social outings and other day-to-day needs. Together, these volunteers have provided nearly 135,000 trips, helping our older neighbors remain active, independent and connected to the community. With the county’s aging population growing rapidly, volunteers and supporters are needed now, more than ever.
Join us for volunteer orientation any Tuesday at 9:30am (5570 Sterrett Place, Suite 102 – Columbia 21044). You can also learn more at www.neighborride.org or by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org / (410) 884-7433.
