Blessing of the Animals Service

Blessing of the Animals2012.1Join UUCC's Animal Ministry, Creature Connection, and the Rev. Karen Rasmussen for our annual "Blessing of the Animals" service on Saturday, October 8th at 10am. As in past years, it will be held in our "garden sanctuary" (the patio) outside Sanctuaries A and B. We welcome all to this very special occasion as we honor the meaningful relationships we have with our furry, scaly, finned or feathered family members who are with us that day, at home, or who have passed on and are lovingly remembered. We encourage you to bring a picture, stuffed animal, or some other representation of you "special" family member, if you so desire. Certificates honoring this special occasion and signed by Rev. Karen will be provided. Please note: All pets should be either leashed or confined in an appropriate carrier!

Creature Connection

Explores our relationships with other animals within the context of our core UU values, primarily the interdependence of all life and respect for the worth and dignity of all beings.

FEED THE BIRDS

It's BACK!  Thanks to the design team of Wendy Alberg, Lowell Sunderland and Bill Ramsey, and John Seed's construction prowess, the feeder is up and birds have arrived....Yay!  But now it needs to be refilled!  Can you help?  We'll need seed, and we'll need people to keep the feeder filled. Pulleys on the pole make lowering and raising it an easy job and you will be surrounded by happy birds.  Please contact me if you're interested in providing black oil sunflower seed (or know of a cheap source), or if you are willing to help keep the feeder full. If a couple of you are willing to do the filling, you can workout a schedule and it will be an even easier task.

Let me know even if you've already spoken to me about it...I want to make sure you're on the list (gardens@uucolumbia.net; 410-381-5516).
