Miss Representation
Join us for the video and discussion on Miss Representation, Sunday, April 23, 5:00-7:00 pm. All parents and caregivers are invited, suitable for children and adolescents fourth grade and above! Childcare available for children below fourth grade.
Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media and culture contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film draws back a curtain to reveal a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see – how the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls makes it difficult for women to feel powerful and achieve leadership positions.
On May 7th, we will watch and discuss The Mask You Live In, which follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity.
