You’re Invited: Climate Justice Action in Baltimore

Dear Baltimore Area Unitarian Universalists,

The UUA General Assembly is coming to town, and even if you don’t plan to register for the conference or serve as a delegate, there is a way you can meet UUs from all over, put your UU values into practice, and help deepen relationships with a local community partner. ALL UUs—including those not registered for GA!—are welcome to participate in this year’s General Assembly Day of Service in partnership with South Baltimore Community Land Trust.

On Friday, June 20 from 2:30-7:00 PM, UUs will gather in Curtis Bay, a neighborhood in South Baltimore, for a variety of tasks, mainly outdoors. Through this project, we will not only make improvements in a community space and make progress on new affordable housing projects, we will build connections with our neighbors in a part of the city that experiences environmental racism and systemic disinvestment.

If you would like to participate in this Day of Service, follow this link for more info and to register: https://forms.gle/goCXSS4nRL6ZECB76

The tasks we will take on will be at the direction of our partners at South Baltimore Community Land Trust and will be based on needs that have been identified by the people of the Curtis Bay community. We are excited to apply what we learned in this year’s Climate Justice Revival as we follow the lead of those most impacted, build on good work that is already being done, take on manageable tasks, and embrace the joy that comes from working side by side.

If you would like to drop in to the GA Day of Service for a few hours on Friday, June 20, please fill out the participant sign-up form: https://forms.gle/goCXSS4nRL6ZECB76.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us by email. If you are coming to the UUA General Assembly, find our booth in the Exhibit Hall to learn more about the project and about the South Baltimore Community Land Trust. We look forward to seeing you!
