Announcing the opening of the Bauder Education Center at Long Reach!

The Bauder Education Center at Long Reach Official Opening. Rev. Paige’s remarks start at 25:33.

On Thursday, June 17, Rev. Paige Getty joined a few UUCC members and many others in our HoCo community for the official opening of The Bauder Education Center at Long Reach.

This new location creates an opportunity for 79 children, ages 3-5, to attend the free preschool program which prepares them for Kindergarten. The number of classrooms has doubled from the previous setting, and one has been named for UUCC in recognition of its donation. A family support center will also be an integral part of the Long Reach location, which offers the other CAC core services to families, including housing, food, and energy assistance.

So far, our UUCC community has raised $10,000 toward the $25,000 commitment that the UUCC Board of Trustees made to the Community Action Council of Howard County for this important community initiative. Thank you to those that have contributed so far! By contributing funds to this center, UUCC furthers its mission to “live our values and act with our community to make the world a better place” and leans into our incubator goal of “fostering good works in our Owen Brown community and to make justice everywhere.”

Lillian Bauder is our friend and neighbor. She is a lovely and generous woman. We are pleased that the center is named for her and her husband.
