Board Minute — January 2025

Board Minute — January 2025

The Board met after its December break on January 14, and had a long, productive session.

We made progress in many areas relating to how UUCC’s Board of Trustees does its most important jobs, and in clarifying what roles the Board might serve. We also heard about progress in convening the transition team, executive director search team, and pledge team. See a board member if you’d like to hear more.

The first six months of an interim ministry is generally a time that from the outside might seem quiescent — it’s primarily a time of looking within — to understand who we are without our previous settled minister, who we want to become, and what elements of what we do need to be clarified, updated, streamlined, and strengthened. We are nearing the end of that time, and this spring we can expect more overt and exciting developments. In the meantime, please, please, please be active participants in the following vital areas of congregational life:

  • If you have not done so, complete the congregational ends-monitoring survey by January 31. A QR code and link will be available this Sunday and next in the lobby on the bulletin board, and in sanctuary B. It takes as little as 7 minutes and can be completed on your phone.
  • Plan to attend one of the transition team’s face-to-face or virtual congregational get-togethers, which are expected to begin in February. These get-togethers are designed to provide space for UUCC congregants to share challenges and hopes with one another in small groups. They will be facilitated by Rev. Lisa and the transition team, using open ended questions and the principles of active listening.
  • And finally — when the pledge drive launches on February 14, please pledge generously. This is how we keep the lights on, pay the mortgage, and live our values of value justice, equity, and compassion in how we compensate our staff. It’s us, and nobody else, that keeps us going as a congregation, and WE ARE ENOUGH; let’s raise the barn together!
