Update (May 19, 2026):
The CAMP Committee has made the very hard decision to cancel this year’s Memorial Day Camping Trip due to inclement weather conditions. Rain, while sporadic, will be cooling things down and cloud cover threatens to keep things wet and dreary. We are also looking at overnight temperatures as low as 47°, which, given that the majority of us will be in tents, leaves us open to potential hypothermic conditions, and just a generally unpleasant sleeping situation. We will be refunding everyone who registered (Hannah will be handling that process in the coming week), and we thank you for your understanding and feedback.
Thank you, and be well,
The CAMP Committee

Each year, UUCC members come together for a joyful Memorial Day weekend camping trip to Rocky Gap State Park in western Maryland (1.5/2ish hours from the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, depending on traffic).
We gather in a large, shared field—complete with a central fire pit 🔥🍫—and spend the weekend enjoying activities, social time, and swimming in the nearby lake 🌊. The park also offers a variety of hiking trails for all ability levels ⛰️. It’s truly an all-ages experience.
Families appreciate the freedom their kids have to explore and play under the watchful eye of trusted adults. Empty nesters enjoy connecting with families, often lending a hand or sharing a story or some wisdom. Solo campers can enjoy a sense of community while having a private space to retreat. We invite you to be as social 🦋—or as quiet 🚣—as you’d like.
If you prefer a different experience, you’re welcome to reserve your own nearby campsite or cabin at Rocky Gap for the same weekend and still join the group for activities. This flexibility allows participants to shape the experience in a way that feels right.
