Sunday Morning Happenings

children (and their curiosity jars) during Sunday morning children’s class on September 8, 2024

This past Sunday in our Sunday morning children’s class we explored the meaning of ingathering and the opportunity it provides to deepen our bonds as we embark on a new congregational year.

Our children created curiosity jars that were full of questions that they could ask their fellow congregants during our ingathering potluck. They asked questions like: Why are you a UU? Why did you come to the potluck? What is your favorite Pokémon? And more. We hope you had the chance to connect with our kids! We also spent some time in community playing a “find the leader” circle game. The kids were enthusiastic, focused, and full of fun!

Over the next several weeks, we will be exploring Article II. During class this week, the kids will begin making Article II mobiles that they will bring home to share with their family. Each week, as we explore a new value, a new piece will be brought home to add to the mobile as well as questions for families to ponder together. We can’t wait to see where your family hangs their mobile!

Living Altar Cloth: In Search of Fabric Scraps & Sewing Helper 🪡

Over the last several months we have been creating a living altar cloth that is used in our children’s RE classroom. Everyone is invited to draw on the altar cloth whenever they feel inspired. This cloth has also been taken to our religious education visioning sessions so that our adult congregants can add to it as well.

Over the coming months, we hope to continue adding to this living altar cloth. The next step is to put a border around our cloth. We are seeking donations of fabric scraps to be used in the border. If you have any lying around, we would love to take them off of your hands. Also, if you are a sewer who might be interested in helping with this project, connect with staff member Kelli Danaker.
