$369 billion of spending on climate and energy programs in the newly passed Inflation Reduction Act is welcome news indeed and gives us hope!
The UUCC Climate Team thanks everyone who has worked tirelessly (or tiredly) advocating for climate legislation, supporting UU the Vote and working on our various climate projects. Together, we are making a difference!
But, of course, there is still much to do. Here are the next two activities you can join in on:
Tomorrow, August 27 (and every 4th Saturday) at 11am: Freetown Farm volunteering 🌾 — all ages welcome!
Sunday, September 18 at 11:30am:
UUCC in-person Climate Forum featuring Chiara d’Amore, executive director of Community Ecology Institute and Freetown Farm.
Then, on Sunday, November 13, we plan to hold a UUCC Climate Fair, where you can suggest or join climate activities for 2023. Please contact climateaction@uucolumbia.net if you have ideas to share, or check our webpage.
Finally, once a month or so, we’re going to share interesting and informative articles on our website. Here’s the first, an article from 📰 The Washington Post: Effect of Extreme Heat 🔥.
