Climate Justice Revival Recap and Next Steps

Climate Justice Revival Recap and Next Steps

After months of planning, we’re delighted to report that in solidarity with 300+ UU congregations across the country, 30+ UUCC congregants participated in the half-day dialogs portion of the Climate Justice Revival on Saturday, September 28.

We developed pictures of a thriving future, discussed challenges to reach our desired futures, and many positive actions we could take. The directed dialogs highlighted the interconnectedness of the many social justice issues beyond climate justice.

It was at various times thought provoking, entertaining, daunting, funny, and energizing. Some of that energy was evident on Sunday, September 29 in the climate justice worship service and advocacy hour on voting.

Here is a 90 second “movie” 🎥 showing some of the people, activities, and outcomes from Saturday.

This was a great first step for building community to achieve more justice. And it was only the first step. Next, the CJR team will transcribe the ideas developed in the session.

The most important step will come after that, when the congregation (not just the climate team) decides what to do with all these ideas. We’re hoping to host a follow-up community gathering to discuss next steps in mid-November.

We welcome your thoughts and ideas! Send them along to our team: climateaction@uucolumbia.net.

Finally, if you attended the Saturday portion of the revival, we encourage you to provide your feedback in this 4 question survey.🌿
