Indeed, Hannah. I saw my old friend Harvey once this year when his son Charles drove him to and from the UUCC service. He was committed to his causes.

I will miss seeing him walking in the neighborhood, always with a tennis racket, going to or coming from teaching lessons at the Athletic Club. He always had a smile and a kind word.

I have played tennis with and against Harvey, spoken with him many times. He was a good partner and opponent even into his 80s. Always fair and generous with line calls. This may not seem like much, but I find it’s a good indication of a person’s character. He will be missed.

He was a special uncle, married my father’s younger sister. He had an eternal positivity and encouraging nature. He took the time to talk to me and my cousins and play ping pong and tennis with us for hours on end. He will be missed greatly!

I believe this is Harvey Zorbaugh who taught social studies at garden city jr high school. If so I have a copy of a letter he sent regarding his friend and colleague Walter Ligon. If this is the correct Harvey Zorbaugh and there is interest in this reminiscence please contact me at email below. Both he and walt were beloved teachers.
