Death of Mike MacDonald

Death of Mike MacDonald

With much sadness, we share the news that Mike MacDonald, who was a custodian at our Owen Brown Interfaith Center, died this past Thursday morning after several weeks in the hospital. Because Mike had no living family caring for him, UUCC’s Sean Griffin and summer minister Louise Green had been in regular communication with Mike’s medical care teams in his last month of life. Louise spoke with Mike, and prayed with him, the night before he died. UUCC will be covering the expense of cremation, and Mike’s remains will be interred with his late partner’s remains in the memorial garden at River Road UU Congregation in Bethesda.

If you would like to contribute funds toward these costs, please write ‘Mike Memorial’ in the memo line of your online donation or check (payable to UUCC and sent to the Cradlerock address via US post).

Mike had the grace and willingness of the selfless. ‘Yes’ was automatically on his lips for each job he did. He was that generous. He had the soul of a winner and as hockey player was highly touted in college.

Mike was a treasure, and came to my rescue on several occasions while setting up for events at UUCC, especially with technology issues having to do with movies. I always enjoyed chatting with him, he was just such a sweet, pleasant guy, and I will miss him very much.
