I was sorry to learn, while at the UU Men’s Breakfast this morning, of the death of Cole Wiggins. He surely liked to make it to those breakfasts and was definitely one of a kind.

Such a wonderful man. Our whole family adored Cole. We have missed his infectious chuckle and broad smile at UUCC these past several years. Wishing him peace and Jeri much love.

We’ve all been missing Cole’s presence. What a fine person he was! He always had an appreciative word about the music in services (and about the Messengers), and would always say (in a kindly way) when we’d sing a Spiritual: “I liked that, but that’s not how I remember it from my youth.” And our love goes out to Jeri.

Cole was a kind, generous, and fun-loving man, and a tireless advocate for inclusiveness and social progress. A self-described hopeless optimist, he challenged us to live our UU values for decades, often in long emails he signed ‘Tar and Feathers’. He was a true believer in UU idealism and encouraged UUCC to find ways to lead the way toward Beloved Community before that was even a thing. I wish he could have seen more progress towards that goal.
I will miss old Tar and Feathers. My heart goes out to Jeri and his family and many friends.
