A message from UUCC congregant Ken Rock (5/22/26):

As we did in 2024, the UU Maryland Democracy Coalition is designing a Get Out The Vote postcard campaign focused on first-time voters in our state. The Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of Maryland (UULM-MD) will be supplying the names and addresses and Ashley Egan (UULM-MD) designed the cards. In 2024, members of the UUCC community prepared over 800 postcards, but this year we are getting an earlier start so I think we can beat that number. The postcards will be ready by early July and will be mailed in September and October.
We are off to a great start. I had the sign-up sheet with me for the first time at Social Hour last Sunday and already five members of our community have committed to 280 postcards! If you would like to help you can reply to this post, email me at krockster@yahoo.com, or sign up during Social Hour after service the next two Sundays. Just be sure to let me know how many postcards you would like, in multiples of ten. I need to report our commitment to the coalition by June 1.
I will also have pro-democracy yard signs for sale again this year. They were designed by Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville member Susan Spangler and are based on a quote from Maryland native son Thurgood Marshall. They were very popular last time and I often see one or two of them at local protests and rallies. The cost will vary depending on how many we order, but should be between $5 and $10. I will place the sign order on June 1. As with the postcards, reach me by emailing me, or coming to my table during Social Hour.
