OBIC’s coffee machine and the faithful volunteers who operate it have worked tirelessly for years to provide the UUCC community with coffee every Sunday (and the many other events we host in our beloved Owen Brown Interfaith Center). Now we are all exhausted and could use your help to continue producing coffee for your consumption!
Two ways to help
Volunteer
Your team of coffee volunteers is a small number and there are MANY of us who depend on and enjoy the coffee each week. If you are one of those people who come to UUCC expecting to be served coffee, please consider donating your time—even just once a month or once a quarter—to make coffee. Click the button below to read more about the different Sunday volunteer roles and to sign up.
If every person who drinks coffee at UUCC volunteered, you would only need to volunteer 3 times a year. Not all of us are able-bodied to stand and perform kitchen tasks, so those of us who are, should be pitching in. Otherwise, our small team of volunteers will end up burned out!
Donate
Our coffee machine has outlived its life expectancy (and warranty) and it is time to replace it. Currently only one drip works so it takes a long time to make all the coffee needed for any Sunday. Please donate to help us purchase a new machine.
How to Donate: Click the donate button below. Select “Donation” in the fund and then memo “Coffee Machine” so we know where to apply your donation. You can also contribute via a check, either mailed in or placed in the basket on Sunday (please remember to memo “Coffee machine”).

Update: per requests of members I am editing this post to add that the average cost of a machine similar to the one we have now is $2,000, before installation fees.

I remember being involved in shopping for coffee machines back in 2007. How much will our lovely hard-plumbed machine cost to replace? Just curious.

Cost is a pertinent point. I’ll donate but a ball-park estimatr would help.

Thanks for asking, I have just edited the post to add in this important piece of information. But the cost of a machine similar to what we have now is about $2,000, before installation fees.
