Endowment Fund Update — August 2024

Endowment Fund Update — August 2024

The UUCC Endowment Fund was started back in 2005 to grow a solid financial foundation for UUCC for the long term. After its first year the fund stood at $32,000. Thanks to the generosity of UUCC members and friends and sound investing, the fund now stands at over $693,300. Since 2019 our funds are invested in the UU Common Endowment Fund (UUCEF), professionally managed with over 400 UU congregations participating and over $250 million in assets. One of the strategic goals of the Endowment Fund is to ensure that our investment strategy is fully aligned with UUCC values. The UUCEF is doing an excellent job of ensuring that its investments include DEI-led and socially responsible companies and organizations.

Each year UUCEF makes a distribution to participating churches based on 5% of an average balance of the endowment account. This January UUCC received a distribution of $31,568. Your UUCC Endowment Board decided that the whole of this distribution will be given to the UUCC operating fund.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity and thoughtfulness shown by the number of people who contribute to our Endowment Fund. Last church year we received 43 separate donations, with many donors making monthly contributions to the fund, as was noted by one congregant at this year’s annual meeting. Our Endowment Board is off to a good start for the new UUCC year with new members Jill Christianson and Jen Hayashi joining Bryan Barrett (chair), Stuart TenHoor, and Alan Coltri. Expect to hear more this year about the Margaret Odell Society. Established in honor of UUCC’s past minister, the society honors those members who have made major donations or included UUCC Endowment Fund as a beneficiary in their will.
