Our OBIC grant requests to install Level 2 EV chargers in the OBIC parking lot as described here have been approved! 🚗
The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) approved $77,865, and the Howard County PREP grant approved up to an additional 10%, up to $10,000!
OBIC’s Executive Director, Kevin Buker, has signed the contract to receive the grant from MEA. They are requiring an engineering study before we proceed and hire a contractor.
The grants should provide the funding we need to allow us to acquire, install and operate two (2) dual port Level 2 chargers. Our chargers will charge at a rate of 19.2 kWh (which is fairly fast – a step below super chargers).
There are still a lot of details to work out, and then actual installation to be done, but we hope to be able to break ground within a couple months.
