Chalice Concert Series: Martinu and The Voice of the Whale

Martinu and The Voice of the Whale

David Lonkevich, flute
Lori Barnet, cello
Michael Adcock, piano

On April 13, guest flutist David Lonkevich and cellist Lori Barnet join Chalice Concert Series Director Michael Adcock, in a program of seldom-heard chamber works for their instrumentation.  A colorful trio by the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinu will be paired with the classic 20th century work, Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale) by avant-garde American composer George Crumb — a musical / performance-theatre work for masked players and extended instrumental techniques, inspired by the sounds of the humpback whale.
