For ten years now, UUCC volunteers have gathered together to fight food insecurity in Howard County by bringing a hot meal to serve 40 to 50 people at the Grassroots Day Resource Center in Jessup, MD. Our group is looking for additional volunteers who are passionate about this social justice area to provide and serve food on the 4th Monday of each month.
We arrive by 1:30pm, serve our meal at 2pm, and wrap up by 4pm. Three or four volunteers also come to serve the food, wash dishes, and clean up. Food prepared or purchased by volunteers can be left at OBIC for pick-up on the 4th Monday at 1pm.
We have a great group of cooks, contributors and servers, but could use additional helping hands to ensure we can continue to make an impact in this way in our community. If you would like to join the volunteer effort and get connected within our group, please email UUCC Member Betsy Osterman: eo21045@gmail.com.
