Join Rev. Paige Getty for six Wednesday evening sessions that will engage with the Article II Study Commission’s set of four topics: Shared UU Values, Inspirations, Purpose, and Covenant. The group will create materials that may be sent on to the Commission at the end of the six weeks.
What is Article II?
Article II is the section of the UUA Bylaws that contains the 7 Principles of Unitarian Universalism, the 6 Sources of Unitarian Universalism, as well as statements of inclusion, freedom of belief, and the UUA’s purposes.
Our UUCC congregation is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Article II of the UUA Bylaws contains the Principles & Purposes that serve as the foundation for all of the work of the UUA and its member congregations and covenanted communities. It is the covenant to which congregations and covenanted communities pledge themselves when they become members of the UUA.
The Board of Trustees of the UUA has appointed a Commission to review Article II. The Commission is charged with revising, replacing, and restructuring Article II of the Bylaws to reflect and serve the future of the UUA.

What does the Commission have to do with this RE class?
This 6-session discussion series facilitated by Rev. Paige Getty is a way for our congregation to engage in the Commission’s work. In our discussions together, we will imagine together the version of Article II — including our Principles & Sources — that will guide us into the future as a religious community. Opportunities to give feedback to the Article II commission will be part of this series.
