Please join us, along with other UU congregations from the region, as we host this important and festive annual event in the history of Unitarian Universalism. This year, Union Sunday is being held at the UU Congregation of Columbia, 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD 21045.

Union Sunday commemorates Rev. William Ellery Channing’s 1819 Baltimore Sermon, “Unitarian Christianity,” which is considered a seminal depiction of the Unitarian faith. It argued for a rational faith that has confidence in humanity, our reason, and our capacity to pursue the good and grow in character. The sermon was published in pamphlet form, and would become, in its time, the most widely read of such publications.

The keynote sermon will be delivered by the Rev. Abhi Janamanchi, Senior Minister of Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Bethesda.

The Music Director for this event, which features combined choirs from the region, is Dr. Glen Thomas Rideout. Dr. Rideout is Director of Music and Worship at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
All are welcome – please join us for the ceremony and the reception that follows! Special musical preludes will begin at 3:30.
