YRUU is the youth ministry of UUCC, serving students grades 10-12.
Keep in mind: youth ministry isn’t the same as youth group! Youth ministry is all of the ways our students grow in community, relating to each other, to the congregation, and to their communities. Youth group gatherings are simply one tool we have to foster that growth. But it’s an important one, and we are excited to be able to provide youth group as a safe place for students to hang out with friends, find adult mentors, and practice spiritual reflection.
This fall, we’re gathering every other week for youth group online. We’ll gather in Zoom at 2PM every other Sunday for large group activities, including spiritual practice and teaching, before breaking into small groups for reflection, connection, and discussion.
Each week, we’ll focus on a Big Idea based on the congregation-wide Soul Matters theme of the month.
And because our circumstances and the students’ needs are constantly shifting, we’re accepting that some things we try with this new online format just won’t work, and so we’re ready to adapt and change course at a moment’s notice. But through it all, we’re holding on to the belief that community-building in all its many forms is always worth the try.
