Exciting Piano News!

Exciting Piano News!

I am delighted to share the news that UUCC member Ed Gaddy has decided to donate his almost brand-new Estonia piano to the congregation 🎹. The Estonia is 6’ 10” in size; our current Mason & Hamlin is 5’ 8”. This is a rare and incredibly generous offer. The Estonia is a renowned legacy brand instrument (on a par with Steinway), produced in limited numbers, and known for its warm singing tone and stable, high-quality components.

The Mason & Hamlin chancel piano has been needing an upgrade since we moved into the larger Sanctuary C space, following the 2016 building expansion. It has served us well for the last 23 years, but due to the cost and prioritization of other needs, we haven’t pursued fundraising or other options for replacement.

Due to the history of our current instrument, and to honor the generous donors who enabled its purchase back in 2003, we’d like to offer our current piano to any congregational member who might like to purchase it.  We will entertain any serious offer. PLEASE NOTE: To meet the donor’s timeline, the sale would need to be completed no later than February 25, so that the piano moves can be coordinated.

If no one is interested in purchasing our instrument, we will return it to the Pianocraft store in Gaithersburg MD, where we first purchased it. Pianocraft will refurbish it and sell it for us, sharing the proceeds. Please contact Michael Adcock if you are interested in acquiring our current piano: michael@uucolumbia.net; (202) 271-8308.
