Well, everybody, summer has flown by (as it does, but maybe a little faster this time?!) Last Thursday, August 1st, we welcomed Rev. Lisa Bovee Kemper to UUCC, and this September—which is creeping right up—we’ll begin a new congregational year.
As we look toward fall, I invite you to mark your calendars for some upcoming congregation-wide events… and join us as you’re available and have the bandwidth! Not just because the events appeal to your personal preferences—although of course, that’s sometimes part of it—but also because being in community is a practice requiring our presence.

Water Communion & Blessing of the Backpacks
All are invited to join us in Sanctuary C for our annual Water Ceremony as well as a Blessing of the Backpacks ritual. UUCC’s interim minister, Rev. Lisa Bovee Kemper (she/her), will lead us in worship.
💦 🎒 Please bring with you: Water from your summer travels or kitchen sink, and/or your backpacks/work bags to be blessed during service!

Ingathering & Potluck
On Sunday, September 8, we kick off a new congregational year at UUCC! Following the 10am Ingathering worship service in Sanctuary C, we’ll gather for a potluck aka time to connect with friends and newcomers. Plan to bring a dish to share as you’re able. If you can’t, no worries, please join us anyway! If you have potluck item(s) that need refrigeration and you’d like to bring them with you to service, you can place your item(s) in the fridge labeled “UUCC” in the upstairs kitchen. Congregants are invited to bring their own plates/utensils/cups as they’re able.

Engagement Fair
Join us after service on Sunday, September 22 in Sanctuary B (and on the patio, weather permitting) to learn about different UUCC teams and groups. Group members will be available at tables to chat with and ask questions. With 30+ groups represented, you may find something new and exciting whether you have been here for 2 days or 20 years!
👋 If you are a leader at UUCC, email the CORE team at Core@uucolumbia.net to reserve half a table by Monday, September 9.
