Free Little Pantry Needs Your Help this September

from UUCC member Anne Gould:

UUCC’s food insecurity efforts involve feeding many people living in our community and beyond. Thank you for all the support you have given to our Little Free Pantry over the years.

Some time after the pantry was built, through the efforts of many, including Margaret and David Hegmann and Ted Nolan, we added a Produce Box to the UUCC grounds (the large white box nearby under the trees). This box was initially created to provide the huge amount of donations from the Giant nearby.

🍞 Every Tuesday and Friday, several members of our Food Insecurity Team collect and transport perishable items from the deli, bakery, produce, and receiving sections to UUCC. We distribute these to our visitors in the mornings with some items saved for early late afternoon deliveries to the produce box, if available. (And some nonperishable items, like bottles of water, we save for filling the Little Free Pantry).

Annilin and Peter Fort are traveling until September 20. I will be in Massachusetts for three months beginning September 11. Ken Rock, Jeanne Bolton, and Ken Walsh are taking on these tasks. We try to have three people for each pickup.

We especially need additional help on these dates in September:
Tuesdays: September 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30
Fridays: September 5, 12, and 19

Can we count on your help? The pickups begin at 9AM and end at 11AM (if not earlier.) Ken Rock and/or Jeanne Bolton will be available to provide guidance from time in the Giant through the delivery to the Produce Box where you will have the opportunity to meet and hear from our guests. Our guiding principle is to demonstrate our respect and compassion to all people we work with and to the people we serve.

My email address is aigould@comcast.net. Please let me know if you can help. Thank you.
