For the past few decades, a group from UUCC has spent Memorial Day weekend at Rocky Gap State Park in western, Maryland – which is about 125 miles/2.5 hours from our Owen Brown Interfaith Center. This event is open to congregants and members of UUCC, whether you’re newer or have been around for years. Families of all kinds and sizes welcome. Registration is required.
We look forward to camping together again Memorial Day Weekend, 2027! Rocky Gap will be closed for renovations for the entirety of 2027. So, our Camping Team (Lee Gelwicks, Kevin Omland, Zach Nelson) has reserved a group site at Pocomoke River State Park at their Sassafras area.
There are 8 cabins available nearby, so if you wish to reserve them, please go ahead! This is a superior group site it seems, as there are spaces for 40 people and 15 cars, as opposed to the 25-30 at Rocky Gap and only 8 cars on their group site.
Please note that Pocomoke River is on the Eastern Shore, so plan accordingly to get across the Bay Bridge on the Friday beforehand. However, it is not far from the shore, so we recommend taking a trip out that way on Saturday or Sunday if you are a fan of the beach!
Feel free to reach out with questions! Email camp@uucolumbia.net for more info.
