Reflection groups (small group ministry) provide an opportunity to explore a monthly theme or topic selected by the group or facilitator to deepen your personal (possibly spiritual) perspective and to benefit from the sharing others offer. Joining a dedicated monthly group is a great way to get to know a few people more deeply as you explore together.
Soul Matters monthly theme resource packets are available for inspiration. Each packet intentionally includes far more information (reflective activity ideas, readings, music playlists, videos, movies, etc.) than anyone is likely to consume in order to enable participants to select items that interest or resonate with them. Packets will be sent to group leaders to distribute to participants generally a month prior to meeting.
We ask participants to commit to participating in most sessions. While it is inevitable that there will be conflicts because of work, family, health, travel, etc., consistent attendance is important for maintaining a vibrant group.
We invite you to fill out the Reflection Group 👉 REGISTRATION FORM 👈 if you are interested. If your interest is tentative, please provide a comment to that effect. Depending on level of interest, some groups may need to be combined; we will be in touch to provide options if that happens. You can reach out via email to Reflection@uucolumbia.net if you want to ask or share something that does not seem to fit well on the registration form.

About Reflection Groups
Reflection groups offer an opportunity for congregants to practice being in community, connect with their sense of self and spirituality, and develop potentially meaningful relationships outside Sunday mornings.
Groups gather monthly for 1.5/2 hours to reflect on a universal theme (e.g. transformation, curiosity, repair, etc.) in a small group (6-12 people) with a facilitator (sometimes co-facilitators). Groups this year gather monthly from October 2026 through May or June 2027 in homes, at our Owen Brown Interfaith Center (OBIC), or on Zoom based on the preferences and schedule needs of the facilitator(s) and group members.
Whether you’ve been at UUCC for years or started visiting recently, you’re invited to consider participating in a group each year as bandwidth and life allows, and as the options align with your schedules.
If reflection groups aren’t for you, we invite you to explore (or possibly start) another small group to participate in at UUCC. Small group participation is an essential way to explore and strengthen relationships with fellow congregants as well as support and nurture community at UUCC.
Try a Virtual Drop-in Reflection Group
Newcomers and folks that can’t commit to a monthly gathering are invited to join UUCC staff member Sara Davidson for a drop-in reflection group on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, October 2026-May 2027, from 6-7:30PM on Zoom. No registration or monthly commitment; simply show up as you’re interested and available each month to discuss that month’s theme together. | access event and Zoom info
