UUCC has fulfilled its pledge of $25,000 to the Community Action Council of Howard County for the new Head Start at Long Reach Village Center! By contributing funds to this center, UUCC has helped to further its mission to “live our values and act with our community to make the world a better place” as well as lean into its incubator goal of “fostering good works in our Owen Brown community and to make justice everywhere.”! Thanks to all who contributed to this important community project!
About this Initiative
This new location creates an opportunity for over 40 more children ages 3-5 to attend the free preschool program which prepares them for Kindergarten. The number of classrooms has doubled from the previous setting, and one is now named for UUCC in recognition of its donation. A family support center is an integral part of the Long Reach location, which offers the other CAC core services to families, including housing, food, and energy assistance.
