Dear Quest and YRUU families –
I wanted to let you know about, and invite your students to, an exciting interfaith opportunity outside of UUCC! A number of congregations who have a relationship via PATH (People Acting Together in Howard) have been forming and growing a Howard County Teen Interfaith Initiative since January of 2017. As we begin this program year, the HoCo TII wants to extend an invitation to any Howard County high school student to join in. There are many opportunities for leadership here!
On Sunday, September 23 (this Sunday!) from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church (corner of Rt. 175 and Tamar Drive). The group is about interfaith cooperation and understanding, and the aim is to work on the following social justice issues this year:
- Homelessness
- Mental health resources for teens
- Anti-racism and bias prevention programs for schools
Plus, the program is just starting, so if you are interested now is the time to bring your ideas and leadership skills to this group!
This is not a UUCC specific group, but most of their activities do not conflict with our regular youth activities, so if this is something that calls to you, please do not hesitate! You can email Jen or you can also send questions to the HoCo TII using this link!
