All people of faith are invited to join in a community time of silence on Tuesday, January 24, at 6:30pm to bring collective energy to pray for a peaceful and compassionate resolution to the Columbia Association’s dispute. Marked at beginning and end by the sound of a meditation bell, this will be a 20-minute silent gathering.

The organizers write, “Columbia residents have experienced months of unsettling reports regarding the relationship of the elected body known as the CA Council and the President, the person selected to lead the organization. No matter your perspective on the situation, as persons of faith, we know the tools of division and dissension do not serve to create harmony and respectful relationships within the community. Please be assured this is not an effort to take sides, but a time to pray (dua) that all parties involved are enabled to move towards deep listening to one another, to move towards building positive relationships and forgive the transgression perceived in others. The Columbia Board will meet on Thursday, January 26, and so we are requesting participation by Columbia’s Faith Communities to engage in prayerful and silent meditation that we know will contribute to bringing about the highest and greatest good in this situation. All Columbians have a vested interest in a successful outcome of this situation.”
