January 14: MLK Day of Service

Dear Quest and YRUU Families –

Thank you all so much for the help and support with our meals for the Warm Welcome Shelter last week! Our guests were appreciative and felt welcomed and cared for indeed.

To continue on with our service to our community and beyond, on the Quest and YRUU calendars for Sunday, January 14 we have placed the Rise Against Hunger meal-packing activity. This is the Sunday of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend. Rather than the regular Sunday evening class, on the 14th we ask youth (and their families, if they would like!) to sign up to pack meals from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

If you haven’t participated in this activity before, it is a great deal of fun. With music and laughter along the way, a crew of up to 100 UUCC congregants and families will pack 20,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger, which provides emergency food relief around the world. This is an activity the whole family can do together.

We ask that you REGISTER HERE as soon as possible! It takes a lot of planning to assemble the space and materials for this many of us to work together. The site will ask for a monetary donation as well – UUCC must fund to a certain amount to help defray the cost of the meals themselves, which Rise Against Hunger will then distribute.

Please let Jen know if you have any questions!
