Joy Ike – unique blend of neo-soul and African roots
The One World Coffeehouse welcomes back singer/songwriter Joy Ike to perform in our 20th season and her 10th! Polished and precise, yet buoyed with an airy grace, Joys music, voice, and writing have drawn comparisons to female musicians such as Nina Simone, Laura Nyro, and Regina Spektor. But her percussive piano-playing and soaring vocals give homage to her African upbringing as a daughter to Nigerian immigrants.
