Meet Top Candidates for Governor, Attorney General, and Comptroller

PATH (People Acting Together in Howard) invites the UUCC community to a non-partisan event featuring candidates for Governor, Attorney General, and Comptroller. The candidates will be asked questions about affordable housing, racial equity, transportation, and more based on the listening PATH has done in the community.

There are three events scheduled to be held by PATH, AIM (sister organization in Montgomery County), and ACT (sister organization in Anne Arundel County), which together include 75 Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faith congregations across the state. UUCC is a member of PATH and has worked with them over the years to win affordable housing, healthcare for the underinsured, the passing of the DREAM Act, and jobs for youth. PATH will be hosting a forum for Howard County Council District 4 candidates and all three are confirmed to attend. At last count, both top Comptroller, both top Attorney General, and two of the four top Gubernatorial candidates are confirmed to attend.

The dates are Sunday, June 12 and Thursday, June 23. The June 12 event is now ZOOM only due to rising Covid rates. Details to come about whether the June 23 event will be hybrid or virtual only. All the statewide candidates have been asked to come to one of the two events. (You can register for the statewide June actions here and the District 4 action here).

Each event will start with brief, pre-arranged personal stories from members of the congregations who will speak to what gets in the way of them and their family thriving. For the statewide candidates, there will then be breakout groups to have a more in depth, moderated conversation with one candidate at a time (two candidates per small group). This is a unique opportunity to get to know the candidates on a more intimate level. Please plan to join!
