On Sunday, Rev. Lisa talked to the congregation about her decision to answer the clergy call to Minneapolis. She spoke of her mentor the Rev. Clark Olsen who answered Dr. King’s call to Selma in 1965, who said, “My message is that whenever you see something wrong, step up. Say something, tell somebody, take a stand.” Thank you to everybody who wrote notes of love for the journey and blessed Rev. Lisa and Rev. Lydia’s stoles during service.
If you missed it, or wish to revisit, here is a message from Rev. Lisa during this past Sunday’s Time for All Ages during worship about her decision to go with Rev. Lydia and other UU ministers to Minnesota this week:
You may know that there are some scary things happening in Minneapolis right now. Things that are very similar in a lot of ways to what was happening in Selma. The people who are supposed to be helpers, the police, the law enforcement, are not being helpers, they’re being unkind and dangerous and hurting people. And so, clergy leaders in Minneapolis put out a call to clergy and faith leaders from across the country to come and stand with them. And I have decided that I am going to go to Minneapolis. Reverend Lydia Ferrante-Roseberry is also going. I will take you all in my hearts, and I’ll be back on Sunday. I appreciate you all, and love you all. Thank you for being the people who send me to follow my call. 💖
