MAKE HISTORY by joining to make this the LARGEST PROTEST RALLY in American history on October 18! ❌👑
There are 2500+ rallies registered, and we expect to far exceed the more than 5,000,000 participants at the first No Kings rally.
This will be fun and festive and family friendly 👪. Your kids will be able to tell their grandkids that they stood up for democracy when it mattered. Check out these 30 second videos NoKings short 1 and NoKings short 2. Don’t miss it!

The “rally” portion at the Chrysalis now starts at 1PM. There will be music 🎶, bubbles 🫧, and speakers 🎤(keynoted by Senator Chris Van Hollen).
From 2 to 4PM, we will head to Little Patuxent and Broken Land, where we will line the streets for camaraderie, chants, and waving some very creative signs (most of which are family friendly). Thanks to UUCC member Jill Christianson for hosting a poster-making gathering for No Kings on October 15.
There are two costumes available: A giant taco 🌮 and an inflatable purple hippopotamus 🦛. First come first served (contact UUCC member Ken Crandell: kencrandell@yahoo.com).
Below are detailed logistics, including parking and accessibility, and here is a map. 🗺️

Finally, these protests are just a means to an end – to stop authoritarian overreach and restore democracy. 👉 Register for the What’s Next After No Kings video call on Tuesday, October 21 at 8PM. 🗓️
Thanks! Contact me if you have questions. Otherwise, wear a splash of yellow (like the UU Side with Love shirts) and see you there!

LOGISTICS and DETAILS
Saturday, October 18 is almost here; time to get ready to show up for democracy! Here is the last-minute information for preparation.
🎤 GUEST SPEAKER
- We can now release the name of the special guest speaker – our own U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen!
📢 SPREAD THE WORD
- Tell friends and family – better yet, bring them along and make a day of it! If they don’t live nearby, find an event near your loved ones, send the information to them, and ask them to be a part of this movement.
- Use these graphics to change your profile picture on social media.
💡 PLAN FOR THE DAY
- Rally at the Chrysalis from 1PM to 2PM. There will be speakers (starting with Senator Van Hollen) and music.
- After the rally we will walk to the intersection of Little Patuxent and Broken Land Parkways and spread along the sidewalks on both sides of the roads to wave signs from 2-4PM (see map). Marshals will help direct you where to go.
🚗 PARKING. PARKING IS MARKED ON THIS MAP.
- If you plan to attend both the rally and the sign wave and can walk a few hundred yards, we recommend parking at the Columbia Mall and walking to the Chrysalis.
- If you will only attend the rally, you may want to park closer to the Chrysalis.
- If you will only attend the sign wave, park at Columbia Mall.
- If you have mobility issues, we recommend that you choose to attend either the rally or the sign wave, or have someone drive you between the two locations.
ℹ️ INFORMATION
- There will be an information table at the intersection of Little Patuxent and Broken Land Parkways from 2-4PM and Engagement Ambassadors will be circulating in the crowd (orange vests and clipboards).
⚕️ SAFETY
- For medical issues, there will be a first aid trained responder near the information table. If you are not near the table, ask the nearest marshal (yellow vest) for assistance. The Howard County Police Department has been working with us on this event and will be present to support the safety of all.
💛 IF YOU CAN, WEAR SOMETHING YELLOW
- This creates a stronger visual impact if everyone in a crowd has the same color, and the No Kings coalition decided on yellow. No, we weren’t involved in the decision, please don’t ask us questions.
🎉 ALTHOUGH THE CAUSE IS SERIOUS, THIS IS A JOYFUL EVENT
- We are coming together with our neighbors to stand up for what we believe in – democracy, rule of law, civil rights, and decency. Trump wants us to cower in fear, but we choose to rise up in joy. With that in mind:
- Signs should focus on the No Kings themes and images and should be family friendly. We will have some extra signs near the information table.
- Costumes are great – look at videos from Portland for ideas.
- Children are welcome. There will be sidewalk chalk and bubbles at the information table.
- Share pictures and video with #NoKings – not everyone can make it in person, so bring them in through social media.
💵 DONATIONS
- If you want to contribute to help cover the cost of this event, donate at the IndivisibleHoCoMD GoFundMe page. All donations between now and October 19 go toward rental, supplies, and other costs for the October 18 No Kings event.
