Owen Brown Interfaith Center seeks UUCC Member to join its Board

UUCC is a co-owner of the Owen Brown Interfaith Center (OBIC). Our co-owner is Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC) and we have a joint Board to govern the interfaith center. Based on relative ownership the Board consists of three voting members from CUMC and five UUCC voting members. There is currently a vacancy in the UUCC delegation to the Board.

The OBIC Board meets monthly and virtually for two hours in the evening, with one in-person planning meeting in January. We recently hired Executive Director Kevin Buker to manage day-to-day operations of OBIC, enabling the OBIC Board to focus primarily on vision, strategy, and governance. The Board works as a team and individual members take responsibility for follow-up and reporting back to the Board on specific initiatives, thus lessening the collective load.

We invite you to consider joining us on the OBIC Board as serving on the Board is a way to give back (and improve) our community, which is so valuable and vital to us all. Prior Board service is not required.

Let Rev. Lisa Bovee Kemper know of your interest, or reach out to congregants Scotty Scott, Lindsay Thompson, Gregory Seidman, or Richard Yocum to learn more about this opportunity.
