In December, the Owen Brown Interfaith Center’s Board confirmed a proposal by CUMC‘s minister, Rev. Angela Wells, to move Rev. Angela’s office downstairs to what has previously been the UUCC office suite. This decision was supported by UUCC’s staff and the space now serves as OBIC’s interfaith office suite.
Curious about why? Learn more through words from Rev. Angela, shared in Christ United Methodist Church’s January newsletter:
So, why move? So glad you asked! There are lots of reasons and benefits to this move:
- It better embodies our commitment to interfaith work and collaboration. It creates greater opportunity for collaboration. So many good ideas have come out of Rev. Angela having lunch downstairs with the UU staff. How much more creative innovation can come from being more intentional about the ways we are interacting with one another?
- It creates a safer working environment for CUMC (and UUCC) staff. Instead of Rev. Angela often being the only person on the second floor and often the UU staff only having one person present downstairs, now we can be together—safety in numbers!
- It will allow increased rental revenue for OBIC (renting out the current CUMC admin office) which ultimately helps both congregations’ budgets.
- It will provide a more constant positive work environment as upstairs can become quite congested and noisy when large events are happening.
