Opportunity to Reuse Plastic Flowers

Opportunity to Reuse Plastic Flowers

We all know plastic is bad for the environment. But many of us have wound up with our fair share of plastic flowers over the years. If you are anything like me, you have probably hung on to them—loath to let them go when you know they could be useful some time in the future.

Well that time is now!

We would like to make a couple different bouquets of plastic flowers (with stems) that can be kept in our back storage for days when a volunteer has not signed up to bring real flowers on a Sunday. The pulpit and joys and sorrows table on Sunday mornings both look so beautiful when there is a little bit of color added to them.

Please note:

  • Do not purchase plastic flowers for this cause! We do not want to support the creation of plastic flowers, just reuse ones that would otherwise go to waste.
  • Plastic flowers must have stems to go in a vase—flower garland or just the heads will not be used.
    • Otherwise, any color and any size are welcome!
  • Bring them on Sundays or during the week and place them in the UUCC staff office.

We always try to use live flowers first but we will greatly appreciate having a couple back up bouquets… just in case.

Consider signing up to bring real flowers… or even a houseplant! Anyone can bring them, it’s easy, and you do not have to do it frequently—even one time would be helpful! You can see the schedule and sign up here: uucolumbia.net/more/volunteer-on-sundays (click “sign up”).

Thank you!
