We are inviting you, UUCC—for a 2nd year—to participate in Plastic-Free-July: a worldwide initiative to help us reduce our use of plastic.
Be part of an international community of millions of people in 190 countries who want to be part of the solution to plastic pollution. Perhaps you will be inspired to find alternatives to some plastics for the month of July, or whatever time works for you, and maybe even create ongoing healthier consumer commitments. Far too often, we all feel like the problem is too big, that our little efforts won’t amount to anything, but when millions of us join forces, that’s when we help change the world. Collectively, we have more power than we realize.
If you have the bandwidth and space to do more, then do more. Check out the international challenge and learn so much more about actions you can take at www.plasticfreejuly.org.
We suggest you don’t pledge to change more than 1 or 2 things (so you stick with it and really do it!) It can be as simple as refusing a plastic straw next time you’re eating out (and remind the restaurant that it’s against Maryland law to give out straws unless asked for). Or commit to bringing your own coffee cup or water bottle next time you are going anywhere.
