You may think that because you don’t have much to give, that your pledge doesn’t matter. UUCC’s pledging model is meant for everyone to feel ownership of this community we are building together. It’s taking a step beyond dropping something into the offering basket, and deciding that “Yes, I believe in this community, and I want to plan ahead to support it.” Pledging matters. No matter the size — the act of pledging makes us stronger, collectively.
The pledges we’ve received for the 2023-2024 fiscal year range from $20/year to a lot more than that. The median pledge this year so far is $1620: which breaks down to $133/month. Whether you can afford to pledge close to that number or not, your pledge matters.
UUCC is its people. Without the people of UUCC investing what we can individually of our time, talent, and treasure to build this community collectively, we cannot exist. Remember, all of us need all of us to make it.
This week we are grateful to have received 23 more pledges, upping our participation goal to 65%. We are also grateful this week to have received $45,580 in pledges, finally getting us to 80% of our dollar goal.
That being said, we still have a good way to go to reach both our participation and dollar goals, and our Annual Meeting (when we will vote to adopt the upcoming fiscal year’s budget) is coming right up on June 4. A budget at our current pledge level means eliminating program funding for children’s religious education and Owen Brown partnerships, or eliminating critical staff positions that support our social action efforts, youth programming, connection groups, and more. So, if you plan to pledge, time is running out — please submit your pledge today or this weekend.
