Pledge meaningfully during UUCC’s Annual Budget Drive this year
As Unitarian Universalists, we think about meaning a lot.
In our spiritual life together, we are on a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. We affirm that many traditions, texts, and experiences are valid sources of meaning and inspiration.
When we are together in small groups, we reflect on and share about what is meaningful to us. In our worship services, we challenge each other to make meaning in the world through our grief, our joy, and our struggles.
We use the word so frequently, that perhaps it has lost its… meaning.
Meaning is something we create. We speak it into existence when we declare something worthy of our time and consideration. We mold it through deep reflection. We experience it when we come together in community: sharing, gathering, loving, transforming, caring.
How has UUCC been a source of meaning in your life?
What is meaningful to you about our UUCC community?
This year, we invite you to consider what UUCC means to you, and then pledge an amount that reflects that meaning — to pledge meaningfully. A meaningful pledge is one that you feel. It is not passive or rote, but it is an active declaration of what you value.
Together, our pledges make it possible for UUCC to continue its work of meaning-making in the world.

What is a “pledge?”
A pledge is a dollar amount you commit to invest in UUCC over the 12 months of the next fiscal year (July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023).
Some choose to fulfill their pledges in one lump annual payment, while others send a monthly check. You can set up a recurring online EFT payment quarterly or weekly, or you can give via Realm as you are able. You get to decide what works best for you.
Who is pledging for?
While pledging is a covenantal responsibility of membership at UUCC, any congregant or friend of UUCC is invited to make a pledge. Together, our financial contributions make a difference in the congregation and in our community.
Why does pledging matter?
You may have had experiences at other congregations where you were asked to tithe a certain amount of your paycheck or required to pay dues. UUCC does not set financial obligations for you to be part of our community. Because of that, we need some way to plan our budget for the next fiscal year. That’s why we do a pledge drive (or budget drive) each year to ask for your pledges.
Your pledge to UUCC helps us plan for our next twelve months of ministry together. The amount you pledge will determine what priorities we are able to set in our mission of meaning-making in community.
How much should I pledge this year?
This year, we invite you to consider the meaning that UUCC has brought into your life. Has UUCC made a meaningful impact on your life? the life of your family? Has your involvement at UUCC helped you make meaning of a tough situation? Does life feel more meaningful because you are part of a community at UUCC?
Think about what is meaningful to you about UUCC, then pledge an amount that reflects what that means to you.
We invite you to pledge meaningfully. A meaningful pledge is one that you feel. It is not passive or rote, but it is an active declaration of what you value.
In the past, UUCC members have shared tools like the Fair Share Guide or the decile breakdown to help you decide a pledge amount. These are helpful tools if you don’t know where to begin. Maybe pledging meaningfully means jumping up a decile or stretching to the next Fair Share commitment level.
I’m ready to pledge. What do I do now?
