Post-Election Community Gatherings: We hold Love & each other

Dear UUCC, 

Our hearts are heavy today as we process the aftermath of yesterday’s critical election. We now know the political context in which we as a faith community will live our shared values in the years to come. Our commitments to interdependence, generosity, pluralism, justice, equity, and transformation—built upon a deep and abiding Love at the center—will be challenged and tested, and we will draw from that well of Love for the strength and courage to act for justice.  

But today, we mourn. We grieve the loss of the futures we envisioned for ourselves, our children, our loved ones, our neighbors.

If you need to be with people today, Sanctuary C will be set up as a quiet meditative space from 2PM-7:30PM, and Sara Davidson and Rev. Lisa will be available for pastoral support. Kelli Danaker will guide children of all ages to process big feelings through age-appropriate activities and care in the chapel from 2PM-6PM. The common area by the first-floor offices will be open for social support and conversation all day long. The High on the Hog discussion scheduled for 6PM tonight will be rescheduled for a later date. 

On Thursday, November 7, we will participate in a candlelight gathering at 6PM in Sanctuary C to hold collective space for the grief, anger, resolve, shock, and many emotions we’re experiencing this week. Join Rev. Lisa, Valerie Hsu, and Michael Adcock for music, readings, and a candle lighting ritual as we come together in this uncertain moment. 

We’re holding you all fiercely in our hearts, UUCC. We will grieve together in community, embraced by a Love that will not let us go. And then, when ready, we will organize together in community, activated by a Love that knows no bounds.
