Update from Ken Rock (8/7/24):
Thank you to everyone who responded, either in these comments or by email. Based on the response, I have committed our congregation to writing 1000 of the 3500 that will be in the campaign. I should receive the postcards by the middle of next week so would hope to have them along with the addresses at service on August 18. We have settled on a mail date of October 1. This would get them to the recipients in advance of Early Voting, which starts on October 24.
The script for the postcards is still being finalized but I have posted a draft of what is being considered at MD Postcards. You would be responsible for writing the script and address, stamping, and mailing on October 1. For postcards like this with a short script I usually estimate about one hour to prepare twenty.
Thank you again for the great response!
Original post from Ken Rock (8/6/24):
The Maryland Coalition of UU congregations collaborating on UU the Vote, with help from the UULM-MD, is launching a postcard campaign aimed at registered first-time voters in Maryland. The roughly 3500 voters on the list were not old enough to vote in the last election, so they will be voting for the first time in this presidential election year.
Four congregations will be preparing the postcards, Channing, Columbia, River Road, and Rockville. A script will be provided and I have inquired about the mail date for the postcards. I know many of you are writing Vote Forward letters and Reclaim Our Vote postcards, so before I committed to a specific number I wanted to get a sense of how many would be interested in working on this campaign. If you are, please let me know how many postcards you will commit to preparing. Email me (UUCC congregant Ken Rock) at vote@uucolumbia.net.
Thank you!

If I have to write the script, I’d need to know how long it was before committing to more than ten postcards.

Is the task just to write addresses on them?
