Potluck Blessing from the Staff

Potluck Blessing from the Staff

Dear UUCC,

We thank you for the opportunity to serve for another year as your UUCC staff, working together to nurture this community, grow its ministries, and bring our Unitarian Universalist values to the world. As 2017 comes to a close and we prepare to greet 2018, we offer these wishes for your holiday season and the new year — consider it our Potluck Blessing, as there’s one contribution from each member of the staff . . .

Whether this finds you traveling, staying put, hosting,
visiting, working, resting, or otherwise –
may your hearts be richly blessed in this and all seasons.

“I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams.” (Kim Gannon / Buck Ram)

For those who have been touched by the loss of a loved one during
or near the holiday season, be gentle with yourself. You are not alone.

As the winter wind howls in the trees, let us take this
season to draw closer together in the warmth of our
community, and use the long nights to rest for the work of longer days.

“Now and then it’s good to pause in our pursuit of happiness,
and just be happy.” (Guillaume Apollinaire)

My favorite, slightly naughty celebrity Christmas quote comes from Shirley Temple, who said, “I stopped believing in Santa Claus when I was six. My mother took me to see him in a department store, and he asked for my autograph.” 🙂 But, in all seriousness, I wish you and yours a Happy Holiday season with the last verse of my most-loved Christmas hymn, “Once in Royal David’s City”: “In that happy Christmas spirit, hear the angels from on high sing their ancient salutations: joy’s a gift you cannot buy. So may we, with heart that sings, share the truth this season brings!”

May your life be blessed with love, health, and peace as we begin a new year.

May you do something every day that makes your heart sing.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” (Howard Thurman)

Wishing everyone a Merry Everything, a Happy Always and a Magical Holiday season.

And again, finally…

Be gentle with yourself.

With appreciation and affection,
Amanda, Anthony, ‘Chon, Jen, Jeremy, Kelli, Maureen, Michael, Paige, Robin, & Tom
