2nd Vice President – Tina Horn 

I’m a Gen X mom, spouse, community activist, nonprofit executive, fiber crafter (quilter, knitter, embroidery), who is deeply grateful to have found a home for all of these here at UUCC. I believe in We The People – this is my theology and my politics. Creating Beloved Community is critical to our survival as a species, considering all the challenges we face in the world and I think that, together, we can face those challenges. I believe in our messes, I believe in our strengths, I believe in our passion, I believe in our good hearts, I believe that we can and must continue to learn and do better every single day. I appreciate the opportunity to serve and the faith of the Nominating Committee and ask for your vote. 

At-Large – Debbie Bors 

Thirty-seven years ago, I became a UU after attending one service in Bloomington, Indiana. UUism represented everything I believed in and continues to do so. Over the years, I have lived in many states and always tried to attend UU services. I have lived in Maryland and Virginia since 1998 and in Columbia since 2019. I joined UUCC in 2019 and then again post-pandemic, in 2024. What inspired me to join UUCC—the friendly and welcoming people, our values and activism, and the lovely view out the sanctuary window—are also what keep me here. 

I believe I’ve been seeking community my whole life and have found it at UUCC! I am a gentle person and a peacemaker. I love learning, sharing, and making decisions together. Living on a commune for five years taught me a lot about communication, perception, and discernment. I would like to bring these skills to the position of At-Large Member of the Board of Trustees. In addition, I excel at organization and thrifty spending, and I think these skills would also be an asset on the board. I enjoy meetings and take pride in being a good listener. I would also enjoy talking with congregants to find out what is important to you and what your ideas are.

Currently, I am part of the hospitality team and drive a couple of folks to services on Sundays. By being part of the board, I would get to serve in a more formal way. In addition, I would get to know more UUCC members and work with our wonderful staff. I have taken the UUA online course called Board Foundations, which introduced many concepts that I would use as part of working on the board, and I have read the various Board documents linked on the UUCC website. 

My background is in biology, women’s studies, academic and progressive publishing, and public health. Presently, I work as a freelance academic book editor and as an editor for a local federal health contract company. I think these areas of work are related to our work as environmentalists, fighters for equality and equity, and speakers of truth. I would be proud to represent you. Thank you!

Jennie Fitzpatrick 

I became a member of UUCC about 24 years ago when my husband Bob and I decided that we wanted a religious community for our family that was thoughtful, responsible, ethical, and accepting. My ongoing experience has been that UUCC continuously strives, through thoughtful consideration and hard work, to achieve these goals.  

I want to serve on the OBIC Board as a representative from UUCC because, last year, I worked with the OBIC Board to develop an OBIC Strategic Plan that identifies OBIC’s Vision and Mission, as well as goals and objectives. I want to be part of the next steps to implement this interfaith collaborative effort.

I have a variety of skills that may bring value to the OBIC Board. After a more than 40 year career as an attorney in the private and public sectors, I have experience in litigation, mediation, policy development and implementation, strategic planning and implementation, hiring and managing people, and managing programs and projects.

Michael Glasgow

For a number of reasons, my involvement with UUCC has been limited to Zoom attendance for several years. So, when I was contacted by Frank Hazzard and offered an opportunity to consider representing the congregation on the OBIC Board, I was pleased at the opportunity to rejuvenate my involvement, but filled with questions about what that actually involved. The Glasgow and Hazzard families have been dear friends for many years, and I served with Frank for 3 years on the UUCC Board; so I trusted Frank’s answers to my questions as well as those to whom Frank directed me for additional insight. Ergo, here I am.

Eric Kieley

I’m drawn to all things financial, so helping the Endowment Board is a natural fit. I hope to learn from, discuss with, and support the other members as we steward this vital part of UUCC. This position will offer a congregation connection for me. In turn, hopefully, I can serve to remind/promote the Endowment’s purpose to the wider membership.

Laurie Alderman (term ending June 30, 2027) 

I have been an active member of UUCC for close to 20 years and before that, I was a longtime congregant at UUCFairfax. I have served in many positions with our incredible community, here goes alphabet soup…BOT, COM, TRC, to name a few. I recently served on the Nominating Committee and I think that experience will be helpful if I am elected again. In my humble opinion, I am positive, inclusive and a workhorse. Thank you for your consideration, I love this place and want to see it continue to flourish.   

José Pitti (term ending June 30, 2028) 

José Pitti is an attorney who lives in Columbia, MD with his wife Brie, two young children named Hector and Cassandra, and a rambunctious foxhound named Dulcinea. They started attending UUCC in November 2024, seeking more involvement in their local community after the election. José enjoys speculative fiction and tabletop/board games.
