I was talking to a congregant who was full of guilt for not attending worship service recently and I said “don’t feel guilty, we are here to feed your soul, not your guilt!”
As all of us scatter for the summer to visit our families, go to the beach, travel, or take life easy and slower in the Maryland heat and humidity, please remember that UUCC is here to feed your soul–whatever that means for you. Here are some ways that you can continue to feed your soul with UUCC even as you enjoy the summer:
Summer Preview: By the end of June we’ll publish the 2025 Summer Preview which will contain special events happening this July and August. Stay tuned and plan to mark your calendars for some fun events!
Worship options
Watch via Zoom! UUCC still streams our worship services via Zoom. On Sunday mornings at 10AM Eastern Time you can go to the website, click the “Worship” Tab then “Sunday Service Zoom link.” You will be sent directly to Zoom from that link!
Listen to the service later: Can’t make it to the worship service or plan to sleep in on Sunday mornings? You can listen to the worship service later via our service archive! The audio of worship services are uploaded to our website a week or two after the service by a wonderful volunteer who has tirelessly volunteered for years uploading the services. If you don’t see a recording, check back later! You can listen by going to the website, click the “Worship” Tab then “Service Archive.”
Community connecting
Realm Community Connections: You can still share important information with fellow congregants! For those of you who have not yet gotten connected with Realm Community Connections you can click this link to request to join the conversations! This space is for all UUCC congregants ( to communicate with each other about community happenings. If you are having trouble accessing the group, let Hannah know at hannah@uucolumbia.net. You can also learn more here.
Discord server: A new way to communicate for those of us who find Discord easier to navigate has been created! There is now a UUCC Discord server that has channels for many different identities and affinity groups. If you would like to join, email Hannah at hannah@uucolumbia.net. To avoid bots or other such annoyances from trying to jump into the server, we are not putting the link on our website.
Reach out to individual people: Nothing beats hanging out in small groups or one on one with your chosen family and friends. Use the approaching summer as a time to swap phone numbers with those of the community you are close to and plan a get together! If you are a parent, ask other parents about upcoming playdates (there are some being planned! We can help get you connected!).
Join a small group: Other UUCC small groups still have some get-togethers planned such as the Disability Social Group, Creativity Circle, Flying Solo, and Youth group, to name a few. The best way to stay up-to-date is by connecting with the leader of a group you may be interested in. View all groups here.
