Dear RE Families,
This past Sunday, children in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade were offered the opportunity to stay to listen to Choir Sunday music, or join us downstairs for a special Children’s Chapel. If your child came downstairs, they learned about the life of refugees, and we drew cards that we’ll send to the UU Service Committee to send to the Caravan waiting at the border for permission to enter the US as refugees.
If you or your children weren’t present and would like to add cards to our group, you can find more information here: https://www.uusc.org/initiatives/share-a-message-of-welcome-and-joy/. If you drop off a card at the UUCC office (or my mailbox across the hall from the offices) by Thursday, I can add your cards to the congregation’s packet that I’ll mail on Friday.
Some wonderful picture books to help explain migrants and refugees:
- La Frontera by Deborah Mills, Alfredo Alva, and Claudia Navarro
- Stepping Stones: A Refugee Family’s Journey by Margriet Ruurs and Nizar Ali Badr
- Refugees and Migrants by Ceri Roberts and Hanane Kai
- Migrant by Maxine Trottier and Isabelle Arsenault
This Sunday, December 23rd, is the Pageant! See you then,
Yours in faith,
Robin
