The UUCC Board’s Governance Committee showed a fun short video about UUCC governance at the service on Sunday, April 6th. We want to help congregants understand our governance process, and to talk with us about ideas in the coming months. This way of governing allows the board to be strategic and enables efficient operations. We invite you to view or revisit the video here:
Our committee updated the bylaws last year and the congregation approved them at the 2024 Annual Meeting. Now, we’re looking at the governance structure overall and comparing it with how other congregations are using policy-based governance. At the same time, Rev. Lisa is looking at how closely (or not) what we do matches with what’s on paper, as part of the interim assessment.
UUCC implemented policy-based governance over 20 years ago and a comprehensive review is a good idea periodically to consider improvements. Dawn Popp, Frank Hazzard, Gigi Raney, Becky Reese, and Colette Gelwicks are on the committee. If you are interested in leadership and decision-making processes, or like detective work looking for ideas for improvement, please talk with Becky Reese or another board member. We’d love to have you join us!
